Lisa North has been working as a professional photographer for over ten years, capturing images in the studio as well as in country settings. Lisa creates fine art for posterity, whether a picture of beloved grandparents, favourite pets or a family portrait. Scream Blue Murder had previously designed a suite of leaflets, booklets, and folders for Lisa, and she now wanted a new website design that would match the look and feel of her recent literature. The new website would be the last piece of her marketing arsenal, bringing her brand to life online

Design Requirements

At the time, Lisa was using three different websites (with three different domain names) for her photography business. These included a brochure site and two gallery sites. Managing these was becoming extremely time consuming, never mind the additional hosting charges she was incurring. Therefore, Lisa’s website design requirements were simple:

One website with e-commerce functionality
One domain with one set of hosting fees
A seamless and consistent online brand, replicating her offline brand perfectly

Our Approach

We use atomic design as a methodology for creating our website design systems. Therefore, anyone can build a new page using the same modules we’ve designed that continue the brand identity across the WordPress site. In addition, our development aims included:

To design a user-friendly site that Lisa could easily maintain without external assistance
To ensure the on-page copy was keyword oriented, weaving the keywords naturally into the content
To source plugins specifically for photographers which would generate galleries for customers to peruse as well as products and packages relevant to the photographic industry
To source plugins for payment options, delivering an entire e-commerce site
To include multiple payment options, including Stripe, which we recommend for online transactions
